The Blues Licks are a tight combo formed around Peter Hicks' ragtime, delta slide, blues harp and rockabilly guitar, backed by the feisty gut-thumping bass of Graeme Beer and the slick sticks of one of Hobart's hardest working musicians, Sean Brady.
They mix-mash the ragtime and piedmont styles of Mississippi John Hurt, Blind Blake and Robert Johnson, acoustic and overdriven harmonica sounds and a little of the country bluesabilly Gretsch guitar sounds of Brian Setzer.
Peter has been playing country blues since he first hit Hobart in 1998 with Shake Sugaree and also in a ten-year residency with Coyote Serenade at the Lark Distillery. 2011 saw him performing regularly with the Blues Licks at the Republic Bar and at the Forth Blues Festival.
